Emily McNamara and Susan Mosher will skewert today's headlines when they join the cast of off-Broadway’s NEWSical the Musical beginning October 15. Mosher will replace Leslie Kritzer, who departs the production to star in Broadway’s Elf. McNamara will temporarily fill in for long-time star Christine Pedi through October 26. Current NEWSical headliner Perez Hilton plays his final performance on October 7.
NEWSical the Musical is the ever-evolving, completely outrageous musical mockery of all the news that’s fit to spoof. From John Travolta, Anderson Cooper, Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes to the national fight for marriage equality and the 2012 presidential election, NEWSical sets all of today’s biggest news and pop culture headlines to music.
McNamara’s stage credits include The Awesome 80’s Prom, My Big Gay Italian Wedding, My First Time, Minimum Wage, The Karaoke Show and Slut. New Yorkers might best recognize her for her nightclub appearances at the Laurie Beechman Theater, Splash, BarTini UltraLounge, Joe’s Pub and The Duplex. Mosher has appeared on Broadway in Hairspray and starred off-Broadway in Suds and Back to Bacharach and David. She is also the host of 54 Below’s weekly Backstage series.
The comedy continues to run at Theatre Row's Kirk Theatre.
